We believe that the gift of a blanket shows an individual they are wanted, cared for and loved. Each of our blankets for the unsheltered comes with a card that says, “You are loved.”
Hundreds of thousands of Americans need warmth every night. Thousands of shelters and organizations serving the homeless are in
desperate need of blankets every night.
Millions of people will suffer homelessness and hopelessness this year.
Many of these – about 30% – are families with children.
Nearly 200,000 family members are experiencing homelessness tonight.
BlanketUSA works everyday to deliver on its promise of providing one of life's most basic human necessities — warmth. Through your generous donations, the BlanketUSA team provides blankets and hope to America's homeless and less fortunate by partnering with:
Low-income families and individuals are hit especially hard as their low wages don’t increase to keep up with the rising costs of gas, food, utilities, insurance and the rising cost of housing. Low-income earners, even two income families, often find themselves paying at least half of their net income on housing. The loss of a job or a serious health issue can lead to late rent payments and the threat of eviction.
Many of today’s homeless face significant mental health and addiction issues or long-term physical disability and serious chronic health issues. 20 per cent of the homeless suffer from mental health issues. They are unable to work or hold a steady job, are often disassociated from relatives, and often do not have the means to access the proper mental health care. This puts them at terrible risk and often become chronically homeless. Addiction has always been a significant factor in the risk for homelessness. And now the ease of access to opioids, prescription pills, meth, heroin and fentanyl, on top of alcohol abuse, has painfully impacted the homeless crisis.
Domestic violence and abuse are a major reason families suffer homelessness and acute homelessness. Family members often need to quickly uproot themselves from their current living situation to seek help at family shelters. Domestic violence effects all family members including the children plus single adults are also effected by domestic violence and are forced to find shelter. Children of domestic violence or abuse may run away and seek to find help on the streets. When fleeing an abusive relationship, financial struggles are often a result.

"They have helped us greatly over the years and we are fortunate to have their help. We use the blankets for our shelter and good Samaritan patrols that go into the camps and work with those living on the street."
"We deeply appreciate the donations and support you have given us at the Ozanam Shelter. These donations allow us to reach out and better assist the clients we serve every day. We are grateful for your support!"
"We serve some of the poorest of the poor men, women and children in the city. Many of those in need are living and sleeping outside. Blanket USA is vitally important for them to have warm blankets."
